Presentation

The disc opens with the Mass « Salve Regina » sketched from Gregorian chants of the Middle Ages.At two opposing points of the cathedral two sonorous ensembles respond to one another. At the heart, a choir of 3 men’s voices with organ and 4 brass instruments; at the tribune the great organ and 4 more brass. At the centre, the crowd is invited to sing a few major liturgical phrases of the Mass. The Solemnal Psalm, which alternates responses between the organ and the choir, closes the CD with a triple « Halleluia ». Between these two pieces is « l’Offrande à une Ame », a defiantly modern composition played for the first (and last) time by Langlais himself on the great organ. NOTE: This CD selects the best of two previously released CDs recently deleted from our catalogue.
