Presentation
Pierre Cochereau assuredly remains the most complete example of the authentic real-time composer, where formal power and inspiration match each other over the duration without ever lapsing into any dilution of time, an incontestable emotional force underlying the improvisations that he left us. Although the epic, dramatic dimension is a constant of his universe, another dimension, marked by an openlytragic exaltation that can be verified with each new listening, seems to reflect the emotional accumulation of a meteoric itinerary in itself.
