Presentation
Just as instrument building has evolved, so has piano playing – for the greatest benefit of composers, their style and their philosophy. Mussorgsky’s piano music requires an approach to the keyboard that is already contemporary. The ‘Pictures’ are described, promenades unfold, characters weep and fidget without the pianist’s mood coming into play. The performer’s scrupulous work joins the wishes of Mussorgsky whose œuvre crosses time. Yejin Gil knows the meaning of this renunciation of personal expression and putting oneself at the service of an eternal work.
